Sweet Corn

Sweet Corn

(end July – late September) Fresh Picked Daily

We are proud to offer our own fresh sweet corn picked fresh daily. We try hard to have sweet corn ready to go when blueberry picking begins, so usually you can get your first taste of blueberries and sweet corn at the same time.

“Peaches and Cream” was a bi-color variety of sweet corn developed and grown many years ago, but no longer grown today. The name has more recently come to refer to any sweet corn that is bi-color (has both white and yellow kernels).

We grow three types of bi-color sweet corn, none of which are GMO (genetically modified)

Our early variety is “Kickoff”. It is a Gourmet Super Sweet bi-color corn that is known to have a medium to large sized cob and great sweetness. Gourmet Super Sweet corn has extremely high sugar content, and the sugar does not convert to starch quickly after harvest. This is an excellent attribute, since most other sweet corn needs to be eaten as soon as possible after harvest to maintain maximum sweetness. If you are unable to cook this sweet corn the same day it was purchased it will store very well for 2-3 days in your refrigerator, without losing its sweetness or becoming starchy tasting. So with “Kickoff” we are selling it picked fresh from the field each day, but if you are tight for time, always keep in mind it stores very well in the fridge. “Kickoff” is usually available the first 7-10 days of the season. e.

Our main season variety is “274“. It is another Gourmet Super Sweet bi-color corn and is available after “Kickoff” until mid to late season.

Our late season variety is Caliber. This is yet another Gourmet Super Sweet variety that grows better in the late summer and early fall. So you can enjoy sweet corn until early October!

Sweet corn contains a good amount of sodium, potassium, dietary fiber, protein, vitamin C, vitamin A and iron.
